We were out at a property in Mere recently to deal with some grass that had been left to grow all summer. It was long – properly long – and needed sorting before it got any worse.
Normally for a job like this we’d bring the petrol scythe machine, as it makes light work of grass that’s got out of control. But this garden only had a small porch to get through to reach it, and the scythe just wasn’t going to fit. So it was strimmers instead. Andy and Frankie spent the day working through it by hand with the strimmers, then went over it with the mower once it was cut back low enough.
Andy went back the next day to trim the hedges and do a bit of pruning while he was there.
We’re now going to be visiting on a regular basis to keep the grass mowed, so it doesn’t get the chance to grow out of hand again for the customer.
Not every garden is easy to get into, and this one was a good example of having to change plan and get on with it a different way. Took a bit longer than usual but got there in the end, and the garden’s looking a lot better for it.
