Giving a hornbeam hedge a clean, tidy shape ready for winter

Another neat job ticked off recently for Andy at Mayflower Gardening Services — this time working on a lovely hornbeam hedge in Motcombe (North Dorset)

The hedge had put on plenty of summer growth and was starting to look a bit uneven, so Andy gave it a good trim to bring back a clean, crisp line. Hornbeam is a brilliant hedge for year-round structure — it holds its coppery leaves through the winter, and a tidy trim at this time of year keeps it looking smart until spring.
